People’s Attitudes

When VM denied me access to my account with the excuse of wanting to verify my details I though it strange.
After verifying my details I then found I had no choice but to accept Spam or I would still not have access to my account.

Thinking this was a web site typo or mistake I called VM only to find that it was in fact a marketing campaign.
I was annoyed at what I considered Virgin’s pretty underhand way of going about things. Further up Virgin’s food chain I expected some recognition and reappraisal from the staff. However, that was not the case.

I received polite but very firm insistence that Virgin Media always acted in accordance with Ofcom rules and if I had any doubt that I should refer to Terms and Conditions etc.

Being an old fart myself, I registered with a well-known independent forum to see what other Internet users thought as they would mostly be much younger than me, possibly by 50 years or more.

Quite frankly I was astounded.

It would seem that well over 98% of people think I am wrong. Included in this number are the responders who were either too thick to understand the implications of the VM web page I published or were just writing for the sake of increasing their post count.

All I wanted were opinions; instead I got verbally attacked for doing things that had never entered my head.
The strange thing is I found the whole experience rather therapeutic.

From a stance of being pretty annoyed at Virgin Media, it became a little source of amusement. So much so in fact that I am considering starting a blog about all the other little things in life that annoy me.

Just think of the benefits, minor annoyances being turned into good entertainment….for free.

So if any of my verbal attackers are reading this (and it does seem a few have visited this site) may I say a heartfelt thank you? You may have provided me with an idea for countless hours of amusement.

Thank you once again.
